Enabling walking, cycling and public transport
As restrictions have lifted and more people head back into the workplace, we know the commute is likely to be quite different to what it was pre-pandemic. With more flexible and increased home working, with more delivery vehicles on the road and with public transport usage still below pre-pandemic levels, we are once again suffering from congestion and poor air quality.
Now is an opportune time for business to review their flexible working and travel policies; upgrade their sustainable travel facilities; introduce a car park management policy to prioritise car sharing and reduce short commutes by car; and engage with employees to enable them to make more sustainable transport choices for both their commute and business travel.
We need everyone to opt for sustainable transport (walking, cycling, car sharing, bus, train, scooter) whenever they can to help tackle the climate emergency, to reduce congestion, to improve air quality and for their mental health & well-being.
We have included some information and useful links here to help your business and your employees make cleaner and greener travel choices which will not only have positive impacts on the climate but can also be really enjoyable ways to get around.
