Support for Businesses
There is a range of free support available to our member businesses through a number of sources. North Bristol SusCom can provide more details on any service you are interested in.

The information below is designed primarily for our members operating in North Bristol (in the South Gloucestershire Council catchment area). Employer sites in neighbouring West of England authority areas (Bristol, B&NES and North Somerset) will have access to a similar package of services. Go to https://travelwest.info/businesses for more info.

FOR YOUR BUSINESS
Free services available to your organisation. 
  • North Bristol SusCom support - we can provide tailored support to all our members on planning, targeting and running your sustainable travel activities. We can help troubleshoot issues, connect you with relevant members, useful partners and sources of expertise. 
  • Annual staff travel survey - The Travel to Work survey provides an annual tool for measuring staff travel, tracking progress over time and learning more about employees attitudes, travel patterns and feedback. Organisations receive a dedicated report for their organisation and can add up to 4 bespoke questions to the standard survey. 
  • Join My Journey - Free car share website for staff travelling to North Bristol businesses. The platform has recently been upgraded and is being relaunched in 2023. See www.joinmyjourney.org.uk or our monthly briefings for more details. 
  • ​First Bus Commuter Club - Free to join for employers and allows all your staff to save 10% off bundles of Day tickets or monthly bus passes. 
  • ​Travel advice roadshows – Travelwest Roadshows are on-site staff engagement events that provide staff with the latest information, offers and incentives to encourage sustainable travel. Advisers can help with journey planning and can also bring along demo bikes (electric, fold-up etc). More info on Travelwest - Roadshows or contact [email protected].
  • Dr Bike safety checks and servicing – the West of England councils offer free bike maintenance checks on-site at workplaces. The mechanics provide essential safety checks and basic servicing and repairs (with parts where possible). They provide a written report on further work needed on the bike. Sessions are half-day (4 hour/ 8 appointments) or full-day (8 hours/ 15 appointments).   • Cycle maintenance training - the West of England councils can offer lunchtime training sessions for small groups of staff on essential bike maintenance including bike safety checks and repairs for punctures, brakes and gears. Delivered across three sessions. 
  • Travel Plan Accreditation - South Gloucestershire Council is relaunching an accreditation scheme for Workplace Travel Plans for all sizes of business. More details available soon. 
SERVICES FOR YOUR STAFF
Free services available to all employees and residents in the West of England authority areas. These can all be accessed directly by the individual through the Travelwest team. More info and sign-up at Travelwest - Individual Support. We encourage all our businesses to promote these offers to their staff. 
  • Loan bikes - Individuals can borrow electric, fold-up or hybrid commuter bikes in a range of sizes for one month. Can be delivered or pick up from Create Centre, Bristol.
  • Adult Cycle Training - Free adult cycle training to build confidence and safety.. Can be adapted to any level of confidence or ability, and run from a location of the individual’s choice. Delivered 1-to-1 with experienced cycle instructor, 1 hour session. 
  • Bus taster tickets - Free taster day passes for First Bus services including Metrobus. 
  • Accompanied ride to work - plan and practice your route to work with a trained Travel Advisor from Travelwest. The Advisor will lead the route. ​
  • Individual journey to work plans - bespoke journey planning service providing a report of all your travel options for your journey to work, including timings, durations, costs, health and environmental benefits.
