The BTC Travel Plan is a package of measures to ensure the additional journeys and traffic impacts created by the site are minimised. It also sets out how staff will be supported to make as more sustainable journeys by walking, cycling, bus, rail and car sharing.

All staff relocating from the Keynsham office to Babcock Technology Centre can utilise our personalised journey planning service during 2023.
1-to-1 journey advice consultations
Our team will provide a 1-to-1 travel advice consultation, either over Teams, phone or in-person. We can tailor advice to your needs but our standard process is usually:

1-to-1 journey advice consultations
Our team will provide a 1-to-1 travel advice consultation, either over Teams, phone or in-person. We can tailor advice to your needs but our standard process is usually:
- You will be asked to share outline details for your requirements, including your start point postcode (usually home or school location), usual travel times and any other requirements you have such as mobility issues.
- Our team will prepare a draft journey options report using these details, including a comparison table of times, cost and other factors. We will also signpost various support services available to you such as free taster bus tickets, subsidised bus passes, free electric bike loans and free cycle confidence/safety training.
- We will then arrange a short 15-20 minute appointment with you to take you through your journey options. These appointments can be run over Teams, phone call or in-person, depending on your preference.
- Following your appointment we will make any necessary amends to your report based on our conversation, and share your final report by email.

We are arranging for the Travelwest advisors to visit BTC regularly during Spring 2023 to provide face to face travel advice to staff. We are also arranging for the 'Dr Bike' servicing team to visit, providing free cycle safety checks and essential maintenance.

Upcoming dates
- Wednesday 15th March. Travelwest advice stall 10.30 - 13.30, BTC Reception Foyer - The Travelwest team will be providing information on all local transport services, free offers (such as cycle confidence training) and free 'taster' bus tickets. They will also be promoting the Travel to Work Survey 2023 for Babcock staff to participate in.
- Mid-April 'Back on Your Bike' event Date and time TBC - A group of keen staff at BTC are organising an event to bring everyone interested in cycling, be they seasoned or occasional cyclists, together at BTC. Everyone cycling into BTC that day will receive a free bikers breakfast. We will also have a number of cycling stalls and services available, including free 'Dr Bike' cycle servicing, Travelwest cycling team, South Gloucestershire Road Safety team and possibly a bike security marking service from Avon & Somerset Constabulary.
